HRAA advocating against witchcraft in their community

Summary:
Ms. Akkali Devi Ram, resident of ward no. 4, Pathera VDC was blamed being witch in her community. People didn’t allow her to involve in any community functions. Her husband Mr. Ramjodaya Ram was supporting her but he couldn’t go against society. Akkali had lost her self esteem and didn’t have food since several days that made her condition worse. HRAA members in Pathera VDC and Ms. InduSah,Animator got to know about that incident in their VDC. Immediately, they discussed in a team along with victim and as decided in lead of Indu (Animator) supported victim and her family to report case atDistrict Police Office. The District Police Office solved this case in consultation with all community people in their VDC. When seen today, Akkali has started to participate in different community functions. Her husband is happy and shared that it is all due to support of HRAA and Animator Indu in her community. He thanked her for giving new life in his family. He is committed to provide any kind of support to any people who are victim of different forms of social crimes.
Challenges:
Witches are supposed to have some kind of magical powers and they tend to give troubles to the local people. The people used to treat those women in society as witch and deprived them from every right they ought to get. Superstitious practices and belief have dominated the socio-cultural lives of the people from time immemorial. Such practice still prevails in our community. Likewise, Akkali was one of victim who was blamed being witch that has brought chaos in her family life. She was about to lose her life as she was deprived of food since several days. Society was against to free her from blamed as witch. So her husband was afraid to go against society in fear of being boycotted from society.
Initiative:
As Akkli’s condition was going worse; HRAA members of Pathera VDC and Animator Ms. InduSah got to know about that incident in their VDC. Immediately, they discussed within a team along with victim and as decided in lead of Indu supported victim and her family to report case at DistrictPolice Office.The District Police Office solved this case in consultation with all community people in their VDC.
Results:
When seen today, Akkali has started to participate in different community functions. Her husband is happy and he shared that it is all due to support of HRAA and Animator Indu in her community. He thanked her for giving a new life for his family. He is committed to provide any kind of support to any people who are victim of different forms of social crimes.
