Mr. Chandra Kumar Ghimire is currently the Secretary for Industry at Ministry of Industry, Commerce & Supplies. He has the career spanning 30 plus years, including four years in the capacity of secretary, in Nepali administrative system. Prior to the present ministry, he has served the system being the Secretary for Commerce & Supplies, too. Apart, Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare, Ministry of Health and Population, National Planning Commission and Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers fall in the list of the authority led by him as the Secretary. He possesses multitude of experiences acquired in the domain of trade policies including bilateral, regional and multilateral negotiations and the trade systems during his times at both Secretary and Joint Secretary positions. He has played significant roles to strengthening Nepal's trade and transit sectors as the Consul General of Nepal at the Consulate General of Nepal, Kolkata, India, during 2012-2016.
Mr. Ghimire has been decorated with numerous awards and accolades, including the prestigious Suprabal Jana Sewashri Medal, for his remarkable contribution to the public services. He has represented Nepal in various negotiations as well as international and national forums.
Mr. Ghimire has an M.Phil. in Public Policy from University of Bergen, Norway. He is a Gold Medalist from Tribhuvan University in Master of Public Administration. He has attended a host of training programs and courses, including, Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, US and University of York, UK, where he was a Chevening Fellow.
