At a Glance Shivaraj Municipality
Shivraj Municipality is a municipality located in Kapilvastu District in the Lumbini province. The Shivraj Municipality is named from the historical Seuraj Region and famous religious place of Shivagadhi, which lies in the western site of Kapilvastu, the home district of the Loard Gautam Buddha. Municipality is established as per the decision of government of Nepal on B.S. 2071-01-15 by merging the eight existing VDCs, namely Shivapur, Birpur, Chhanaie, Bishanpur Jawabhari, Shivagadi, Thunihiya, and Lalpur. The total area of Municipality is 248.08 square kilometer and located at the altitude of 700 feets to 1000 feets above the sea level. Shivraj Municipality is bounded on the east by Bhuddhabhumi Municipality, on the west by Bijyanagar Rural Municiplaity, on the north by Argakhanchi and Dang District, on the south by Maharagunj and Krishnagar Municipality. According to the census of 2068 Tharu, Muslim, Chhetri, Kurmi, Yadav, Magar, Kami, Dusad, Paswan, Pasi, kori, Kahar, chama, Teli, Dasnami, kewal, Dhobi, badhae, Damai, Sarki, Thakuri and others caste have been living in Municipality. The total population of Municipality is 66781, out of which 33161 is Male and remaining are Female
The place where Chandrauta Bazaar is located has been made the center of the municipality.
